Job Summary:

The IT Operations Analyst is responsible for the processing of daily, weekly and monthly procedures on the AS/400/ISeries & other systems; Monitoring of all necessary components of the Data Center.  This person will assist in providing 24 x 7 support for LSAMS and Data Center activities in 3rd shift.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for operating and monitoring multi-platform computer systems. Specifically, inputting commands, starting and stopping system operation, performing save/restore functions, following operational schedules prepared by supervisor and verifying completion of all computing assignments.
  • Monitors various systems for error conditions and status of job streams, responds to error messages as defined in procedures manuals, records problems encountered and actions taken to overcome them, and refers unusual or questionable situations to supervisor for resolution.
  • Additionally, operates peripheral equipment such as tape drives and printers, performs user maintenance on tape drives, observes peripheral equipment and error messages displayed to detect machine stoppage, enters commands to correct stoppage and resume operations, and notifies supervisor of equipment stoppage as needed.
  • Familiarized with Data Center environment to assist as a Hands & Eye support to external teams such as Network and Wintel teams
  • Answers telephone calls to assist computer users encountering problems. Monitors and responds to helpdesk tickets assigned to the IT Operations queue.

Core Requirements:

  • Associate's degree with major course work in a discipline related to the requirements of the position is preferred. Will consider the equivalent combination of job experience & education that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of this job.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a IT Ops role or similar
