What is FLASH Manufacturing

Your team. Flash Manufacturing is a new fulfillment process using a state of the art workflow system, BOSS Director.  We are pushing the boundaries of the mortgage industry and challenging the way our company thinks and behaves. We are reimagining data integration, workflow prioritization, task specialization and workforce optimization to drive down cycle times while delighting our customers.

Role Overview

Team Learning and Culture: This role makes Mr. Cooper more efficient by innovating from the front lines through to funding. Team members will continually iterate to improve our processes, quality and automation, while strengthening our understanding of customers as well as sales, fulfillment, and funding to build deeper relationships and improved quality. Team members share knowledge, raise ideas and support peers.

Underwriting and Innovation: You are responsible for evaluation, review and approval/denial of loan applications based on appropriate underwriting guidelines and procedures. You determine documentation needed and, if applicable, conditions for loans and clearly communicate directly with required parties to resolve conditions. We want innovative people who can think outside the box and not be afraid to provide feedback to management on needed improvements.

Key Responsibilities

No day will be the same, but some key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for analyzing moderately complex files (financial and credit information) according to internal underwriting standards, investor guidelines, and federal regulations. 
  • Underwrites a variety of product and loan types with a higher aggregate credit exposure including underwriting exceptions. 
  • Compile, analyze, and document loan data and credit risk, borrower and property information.
  • Achieve all assigned Performance Standards to include loan quality, productivity, turn times and customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for providing clear and accurate communication to fulfillment team members, management, sales and customers (as needed) regarding file documentation and required conditions. 
  • Be well versed and knowledgeable of all FLASH workflow process and policies & procedures.
  • Complete all work within established FLASH workflow processes and policies & procedures
  • Provide training and assistance to Underwriter I - FLASH to assist with performance improvement and developmental opportunities.
  • Constantly learn and improve from established feedback loop routines to complete underwriting correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Graduation from a 4-year college or university with major course work in a discipline related to the requirements of this position.  Will consider the equivalent combination of job experience and education that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • 3+ years’ experience in mortgage underwriting   
  • Ability to underwrite loans at a national level and in all markets.
  • FHA - Direct Endorsement (DE) designation a plus
  • VA – Lender Appraisal Processing Program (LAPP) and/or Staff Appraisal Reviewer (SAR) designation(s) a plus
  • Experience with Desktop Underwriter (DU) or comparable automated underwriting system required.
  • Must have an in-depth understanding of Mortgage Originations systems.
  • Advanced analysis skills in the areas of credit, layered risk, and income
  • Excellent computer skills required including proficiency with originations systems and Microsoft Office products.  Encompass experience is a plus.
  • Ability to pass a background check, credit check and drug screening.
  • Applicants must be willing to work a flexible schedule with the possibility of overtime and weekend rotations.
