Job Summary:

The Principal Risk Analyst provides oversight, analysis and evaluation of different type of risks – primary focus on Credit risk, Market Risk and Liquidity Risk. Works towards the goal of evaluating, consolidating and tracking financial impact metrics and analysis to proactively mitigate risk. Works with different risk and finance teams to aggregate and analyzes risk related metrics. Develop reporting, analytics, what if scenarios and collaborate with different departments to quantify potential risk impact. Ability to do independent deep dive analysis, identify adverse trends, understand financial metrics and key risk indicators. Will build relationship with other departments such as, credit risk, finance, secondary markets & treasury to leverage existing information to develop primary key risk indicators and underlying key performance indicators.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for developing, aggregating and tracking of risk related metrics as identified by risk oversight function.
  • Conduct deep dive, root cause analysis, what is scenarios and stress analysis using excel or other tools to understand potential risk exposure and impact.
  • Aggregate and track risk metrics from other corporate functions (finance/treasury/credit risk/secondary markets) to explain underlying patterns using supporting data and insights; create summaries and presentations for senior management and risk committees.
  • Work with different risk team assist in cross-functional department projects
  • Perform research to understand and summarize risk exposure associated with functions and programs being evaluated are compliant to risk framework.
  • Establish and maintain effective business relationships and build partnerships within  review area to ensure mutual understanding of risks and exposures

Experience and Education Requirements

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in mortgage industry within Originations/ Servicing.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, accounting, finance, economics, or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced education such as Master’s degree preferred
  • Hands on financial and risk analytics experience, exposure to financial ratios, forecasting, budgeting, capital markets functions.
  • Hands of data mining skills, using SQL, SAS or similar tools.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, expert user of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
