The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is the highest-ranking executive within the Subordinated-Unsecured Lending group. The individual will lead a team of high-performing professionals to be efficient, productive and effective. The ideal candidate has extensive experience within the industry, having worked their way up through the ranks to a role as an executive or business owner. This trajectory typically develops a unique mix of business and management expertise, plus proficiency with practices, policies and procedures of the financial lending industry. Key to success are strong leadership skills and the ability to approach business from a creative point of view.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and implement business operations strategies, plans and procedures.
  • Oversee operations of the division.
  • Establish policies that promote company vision and culture.
  • Coordinate the work from various departments (IT, Sales, Finance, Marketing)
  • Set performance and growth goals.
  • Encourage employees to optimize performance
  • Evaluate employee performance by analyzing and interpreting metrics and data.
  • Create reports for the Senior Managing Director.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and partners.
  • Work with the human resources department to develop and implement staffing programs to attract the best applicants and improve employee retention.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Managing Director on long-term plans for company growth.
  • Act as a mentor to all employees.
  • Motivate staff to meet organizational goals.
  • Control company costs.
  • Monitor invoices, accounting, bank processes, and money-handling procedures.
  • Oversee marketing initiatives.
  • Delegate responsibilities.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Exhibits ability to conduct ongoing independent research into trends and activity.
  • Possesses detailed knowledge of mortgage origination and lending.
  • Possesses detailed knowledge of best lending practices.
  • Maintains professional and confident demeanor.

  • Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to make informed and logical management decisions.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years' experience in executive leadership positions.
  • Leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity.
  • Understanding of advanced business planning and regulatory issues.
  • A solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics.
  • Be able to diagnose problems quickly and have foresight into potential issues.

The Chief Operating Officer Subordinate - Unsecured Lending is responsible for managing and overseeing subordinated lending activities including Title One loans as well as working with bankers to design and originate loans for both advisory/investment assignments.
