The Sr Principal HR Business Partner is responsible for providing HR generalist support through building relationships with management and employees while providing direction and guidance. Reporting to the VP, HR Business Partner, this role is to serve as a consultant to the business units aligned with the organization’s culture, policy/procedures, and best practices. 

This position will also be responsible for day-to-day human resources functions in the areas of employee relations, coaching and counseling, performance management, change management and organizational development. 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide elevated HR consultation and support to a designated business unit.
  • Consults with business unit management in the strategic planning process and development of human resources strategies that support the unit's business needs.
  • Uses data analytics and thought leadership to influence business leaders and set future direction.
  • Advises and guides management in best practice performance management and ensures consistency and adherence to company policies and applicable employment law.
  • Reviews, consults, and makes recommendations to management regarding various HR related matters such as: performance management, leaves of absence, promotions, terminations, organizational design, job documentation, and salary administration.
  • Review, conduct, and document employee related investigations.
  • Administration of FMLA and unemployment claims.
  • Develops, administers, and presents employee climate survey, new hire survey, and exit interview assessments.
  • Develops and presents various HR related training programs including various manager training.
  • Leads and assists on department projects and other initiatives.
  • Work is highly independent and self-guided and has a significant impact on the business. 

Core Requirements:

  • Graduation from a 4-year college or university with major course work in a discipline related to the requirements of the position is preferred. A high school diploma or state accepted equivalency is required.
  • PHR/SPHR certification a plus but not required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of HR generalist experience.
  • Previous experience supporting Technology Teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in communicating and building relationships with front line managers to be viewed as a trusted resource for advice and guidance.
  • Strong relationships, critical thinking, and a deep knowledge of all HR areas (ER, Comp, Benefits, etc.)
  • Expertise with commonly used concepts, practices and procedure within HR body of knowledge, including state and federal employment laws.
  • Competent at persuading, engaging and building buy in from key stake holders.
  • Strong communicator – good presence and polished.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, process thinker.

Summary

Acts as a liaison to other human resources functions when necessary.
