Manage a team of Underwriters to ensure loans meet program guidelines.  Communicate directly with internal and external partners.  Function independently and as a team player with Clients, Sales Partners, Peers and Internal departments. Displays a high level of trust and integrity while working in a fast pace environment.


  • Manage a team of underwriters to ensure mortgage loans are underwritten in compliance with underwriting guidelines and state and federal reporting guidelines (RESPA, HMDA, and Section 32).
  • Ensures underwriters are verifying all documentation with regards to income, credit, appraisal, assets and title information
  • Team Management including but not limited to hiring, counseling and training
  • Proactively manage key performance indicators and monitor work queues to ensure all SLAs are met
  • Conduct regular Underwriting huddles to ensure staff is up to date on all Underwriting guidelines, Credit Policy and best practices
  • Support staff by responding to second level escalations and exception requests
  • Responsible for productivity reporting and projections as required by management
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Graduation from a 4-years college or university with major course work in a discipline related to the requirements of the position. Will consider the equivalent combination of job experience and education that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job
  • Extensive knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC, FHA, VA and USDA guidelines
  • Experience analyzing complex tax returns including Corporations, S-Corps, Partnerships and Sole Proprietorships
  • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Applies critical thinking and sound judgement
  • Seven years of experience in mortgage underwriting or lending
  • Five years management experience
