The Mortgage Insurance Analyst II administers the complicated details of Mortgage Insurance such as Bill Payment, Reconciliation with Investors and Vendors, Acquisition Validation and Review, Borrower Request Removal, Loan history research and Private Label reporting and maintenance, amongst others. This role must ensure efficiency and timely completion of tasks and goals, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure on a variety of tasks, including research and resolution of escalated/priority requests and project tasks, under the supervision of Insurance Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Conduct oneself in a manner that reflects positively on the company in general and the department, including professional, timely, and detailed responses to internal and external communication, and arriving timely to all meetings and calls.
  • Researches servicing histories and setup of Mortgage Insurance policies, collect supporting documentation, and assists in preparing audit responses; analyzes exception reports and clears exceptions by researching and correcting errors
  • Responsible for balancing MI vendor bills on a monthly basis to confirm all items are paid/reported to both MI Vendors and Investors/Private Labels.
  • Monitors the status of MI Loans; assists in resolving servicing transfer/loan setup issues; researches MI policy payment histories;
  • Performs document to system audits; reviews and interprets various origination documents for system accuracy
  • Performs Borrower request reviews for both HPA, Investor and State regulations
  • Reviews and processes research requests, which includes preparing amortization schedules to reflect critical MI Dates
  • Research and resolve escalated and complex issues
  • Conducts special projects as assigned by Insurance Management;
  • Calculate loan amortizations to correct auto termination and midterm dates
  • Update loans through adjustments and recalculations of auto termination dates, modification and Recast recalculations and various other critical data elements related to MI
  • Extracts and analyze data from servicing system and/or relational databases with demonstrated ability to perform analysis, decipher, trend, and effectively report data gathered through technology.
  • Performs root cause analysis on various projects and/or processes within the department and executes solid process improvement solutions
  • Provides training, guidance, and backup to other team members
  • Supports management in achieving goals and improving the efficiency/productivity of the department;
  • May have direct meetings/relationships with varying levels of staff management to accomplish Mortgage Insurance initiatives which may include cross-departmental projects
  • Backup for Senior Analyst and Manager as point of contact for system, IT, and Compliance related projects; Responsible for reporting to senior management;
  • Completes miscellaneous tasks as necessary or required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Bachelor's degree preferred and typically requires a minimum of 2 years related work experience.
  • Mortgage industry experience is required. Experience with Mortgage Insurance is highly preferred
  • Communication: Exceptionally skilled in verbal and written form as appropriate for the needs of the audience. Demonstrated ability to craft written correspondence that conveys messages that cannot be misinterpreted.
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate advanced computer and software skills necessary for job function; ability to manipulate data to create specific reports if needed. Ability to use and understand SQL, MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) including knowledge of pivot tables preferred.
